IGEA Unveil Princess Adebisi Edionseri, Alhaja Salawat Abeni Among Others as Outstanding Awardee For 2016 Maiden Edition

The organizers of 2016 Maiden Edition of Indigenous Governance and Entertainment Awards has come up with the outstanding awardee  and has named the jury for the upcoming awards which has been slated for January 27th 2016 with the proposed venue to be June 12 Cultural Center, Kuto Abeokuta Ogun State.

The goal of the awards is to celebrate, encourage well meaning Nigerians in all sphere of life.

Meanwhile the Outstanding Awardee for the maiden edition according to the organizers are listed below:

* Princess Adebisi Edionseri 

Adebisi Titilola Edionseri, businesswoman, socialite, philanthropist and muslim women leader. Popularly know as "Cash-Madam" in the 60s and 70's. A number of Juju musicians sang about her. 

* Adeshina Okanlomo
Popular Lagos businessman/socialite Adeshina Okanlomo CEO of  Ibray Hotel Resort and Suites , a youth who is worthy of emulation and public figure.

* Hon, Bukola Olopade
 Ex-commissioner of youths & sport in Ogun State, WAFU coverner , a sport analyst, promoter and crusader of youths in government.

* Alhaja Queen Salawa Abeni
Salawa Abeni Alidu (born May 5, 1961) is a popular Nigerian singer.[1] An Ijebu Yoruba from Ijebu Waterside, in Ogun State, she began her professional career in waka music when she released her debut album, Late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed, in 1976, on Leader Records. It became the first recording by a female artist to sell over a million copies in Nigeria.
Abeni continued recording for Leader until 1986, when she ended a relationship with the record label's owner, Lateef Adepoju. She married Kollington Ayinla and joined his record label instead, staying with him until 1994.
She was crowned "Queen of Waka Music" by the Alaafin of OyoOba Lamidi Adeyemi in 1992.[citation needed] Waka is an Islamic-influenced, traditional Yoruba music style, popularized by Batile Alake; it is a much older genre than jùjú and fuji.

However, the jury for this year edition was also announced to be Honorable Lanre Jaji, who is a radio presenter, Mr Jimoh Akeran who happen to be a broadcaster and freelance reporter and Makinde Fasunle in a press briefing held at Abeokuta yesterday. The opening of website and all social handles was also mentioned by the committee.

The nominees has been implored to make use of the website and other social handles opened by the coommittee as source of information while nominations should be sent to ayomidejisolanke@gmail.com without any delay as all nominations will be well treated by the jury without any bias judgement.
