Having endured a long patience with baited breath, it is disheartening and disturbing to the chagrin of the people of Ijebu-Remo stock, of the antics of one of the Ogun East Governorship aspirants, in the person of Jimi Lawal who having accepted to work for the collective interest of the Ijebu Agenda, following the endorsement of Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, the current Ogun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, as the APC Ogun East Consensus governorship candidate in the coming 2019 general elections, has now embarked on an unsavoury mission designed to scuttle our cause.

It could be recalled that OGUN EAST IJEBU AGENDA FORUM's screening process that produced ASHIRU as the OGUN EAST APC CONSENSUS GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, has continued to generate a lot of ripples and applause from political gladiators and analysts. Also, the aftermath saw Dr Gbolade Oshinowo, Special Adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo on Political Matters, the chairman of IJEBU AGENDA, in the news, virtually on a daily basis for achieving such a rare feat devoid of rancour and much criticism.

But surprisingly, it is regrettable that JIMI LAWAL could make a u-turn in the twilight and embark on cheap blackmail of the outcome of the IJEBU AGENDA, chiefly on account of his myopic and vaulting ambition to the detriment of the overall interest of the IJEBU LAND, at large. This is shameful and nauseating that he has stooped low on this slippery course that does him no good.
I think JIMI LAWAL ought to have sat down and asked himself certain but germane questions regarding his eligibility when preparing to throw his hat into the governorship ring was, 1. "Am I eligible to vie for the governorship seat of Ogun State? 2. Do I have the credibility? 3. Am I a known APC family members in Ogun East, let alone Ogun State, at large? 4. What are my past records to qualify me? These questions, he declined to address before joining the fray. If LAWAL in his right frame of mind, he ought to know that the tag, TOKEOYABO best fits him, that he was actually the person Gov Ibikunle Amosun was referring to, that he vowed he would never hand over the baton of the state leadership to, while addressing OGUN WEST ELDERS AND LEADERS that had paid him a courtesy call last week, regarding the OGUN WEST AGENDA. And this tag, TOKEOYABO, best speaks volume for him to fathom the import of the message, not to bother himself over the race.

As if undone, Lawal still went ahead, in his bid to scuttle the decision of the IJEBU AGENDA leaders, instructed his coordinators that are former Ogun East Caretaker Chairmen to issue a communique, disclaiming the endorsement and adoption of OTUNBA BIMBO ASHIRU, as the Ogun East APC consensus governorship candidate. On a natural cause, the unsavoury development, however, hit the rock. Soon afterwards again, he did not stop at that as he instructed his media aide, claiming that four of the aspirants has withdrawn their support for the endorsement of ASHIRU, a shameful disposition that later witnessed two of the aspirants, Dr Taofeek Kassim and Arc Opayemi Owodunni, disowning the publication through separate rejoinders and openly condemned the sponsor of the said news item.

I think it is high time his godfathers, grovelling sycophants and supporters should admonish him to hide his face for now because going ahead in this dirty and macabre game may plunge him into a river of regret where he never imagine he could find himself. Your N50,000 each to the APC party chairmen can't buy the conscience of the majority of the people except they want to mortgage their future for a pot of porridge. Aside the avowed claims of Gov Amosun, not to hand over the baton to a political JJC, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has openly criticised and even vowed to work against the interest of the desperado that has been using his name to defraud some innocent party chieftains towards throwing their support for his failed desperation.
How far can a TOKEOYABO go in his desperation? Isn’t it a high time he retired or returned to his OKE OYA (NORTH) and avoid raising an unnecessary dust? OGUN STATE is not meant for a political jobber!
